Max & Kaylee

L and i had our first ever playdate this week. it was a lot of fun. my good friend, sarah, who i met in college, had a baby girl the day i was due. so L and paige are only 11 days apart, which is fun. we got together, swapped baby stories and let the girls "play". they weren't terribly interested in each other, but did like to touch each other. L wanted to touch paige's hair. and paige has a thing for feet! too cute! thanks sarah, for having us all over!

only bummer is that L picked up paige's cold. apparently we weren't invincible to the germs that day! oh well. it's her first time being sick (glad to get that out of the way, actually!). she just has a super runny nose and a little cough (actually, she coughs really loudly and we all kinda laugh at her!), but other than that, she is super happy and smiley. she just sleeps a little more during the day. last night was a little rough, just because i had to get up multiple times to wipe the snot off her face. and of course she insisted on wanting her pacifier, so that didn't help the not being able to breathe out of her nose! but she actually slept most of the night and has taken some good naps already today. i'm just hoping this clears up quickly. we have an echocardiogram to check on her heart murmur in a week and a half. and they have to sedate her (i guess they sedate all babies 3 months to 3 years) so that she will lay super still while they do the test. and that means that she has to be all healthy and golden by then. we have a physical, which is in one week, to make sure she is healthy. so she's got one week (and i sure hope it doesn't take that long)!!!!

hello. it's my birthday today. i am now 24 years old. weird. nothing too exciting going on around here. went out to lunch with my parents at a super delicious indian buffet. we will have a big family celebration on saturday...my cousin's birthday falls this week as well, so we've celebrated together for years...it's a lot of fun! it's been a good day though. only thing that could make it better would be to hear from my husband! it's been three weeks since i've heard anything, which is a bummer, but i know that he is busy and that he'll call when he can, so i am trying to wait patiently (which, let me just say, is extremely hard for this preggo girl to do!!!).

what else is new? besides loving this weather. it's been chilly every morning, but by late-morning, it gets so warm outside. it's been just lovely. makes me so excited for the hot days of summer! i got my hair cut yesterday, which was much needed. i'll try to get a few pics up in the next few days. i have had a whole long list of stuff to get done for a couple of weeks now. i just haven't been very motivated to work on any of it! i need to find my motivation though and just get things done! i am currently working on re-organizing my room. because L and i share a room, and the new baby will also share our room with us, i have been feeling like i need to organize more efficiently, to better utilize our space. so i have been working on purging un-necessary or un-used items and finding ways to organize in such a way that more effectively uses the space we have. things are a bit messy right now, but at least i am working on it! i have a job interview this week, as well as a few other prospects. i know it may seem silly to look for a job when i can only work for another 6 months, but i'll stop in a week or two if none of these prospects work out. i am just looking for something part-time, with possible evening and weekend hours, so that my parents could help with watching L (and cut down on childcare costs).

L refused to eat her avocado today! it was the first time she has ever refused to eat something. and we've been doing food for a month now! she turned her head and clamped her little lips shut. would not eat them. she had one bite, spit the second bite out and then she was just done. oh no. the stubborn is coming out :) but she did get to eat mashed potatoes the other night, all by herself. she spent a good hour working on them and thought it was the greatest thing ever. made a good mess and probably only got a third into her mouth, but it was fun to watch her try to eat them! i have been taking lots of photos lately, so here is the first batch. there are more to come, so stay posted :)

yesterday marked me being 13 weeks preggo. still feeling pretty good. i just get so tired and feel like i could sleep for three days straight. of course, L not sleeping very well lately does not make me a very well-rested mama. but i also need to learn to go to sleep earlier :) i've also been pretty crampy lately, which is no fun. but i think the little blueberry is just getting bigger. it won't be much longer before i have to move back into preggo jeans. oh the joys of maternity clothing! at least i'll get to use them again, right?! i've barely been in my regular jeans and now, i will get out of them again. oh well, i always said preggo jeans were WAY more comfy anyways!!!

haven't heard from maxwell in almost two weeks. i haven't even gotten to tell him about my first preggo dr check, or when baby #2 is going to be due! needless to say, i am excited for whenever he gets to call next. at least i had gotten four days of phone calls a couple weeks ago. that is definitely getting me through this stretch. god sure knew what he was doing! i just keep praying that max is safe and doing as well as he can be right now. and i just keep telling myself that 'no news is good news', the motto many of us family members live by.

the weather has gotten SO nice out lately! we have been spending more time out and about, or being outside on walks. i can't wait for summer and for the heat to settle in! i am definitely a summer girl at heart! i love the sun! although i do have to say that spring is also an awesome season. to see all the trees bud and blossom, and the grass to get green and start really growing. to be reminded of new beginnings and growth. it's beautiful and such a great reminder.

L got her first sunglasses from her bibi (my mom). she looks so glam!

secondly, the 18th means that little L is now 6 months old! crazy how fast time flies (haha, this is funny, especially in light of above rant on how many months to go)! this means that she is now half a year old! whoa! she is getting so big (ok, so she is probably still so small, but to us, she is growing like a weed!) and doing so many new, exciting things all the time. she is a rolling pro now. she can roll across/around a room like a champ. and is working on scooting now too. it won't be long before she figures out the whole crawling business. she is eating her solid foods very well. some new foods for her recently have been sweet potatoes, applesauce, oat cereal, green beans and pears. she loves to eat and hasn't had an issue trying new foods yet! since i started supplementing with formula (and am now down to only formula - it was just way tiring trying to breastfeed while being pregnant again - plus, i wasn't making enough for her to eat), she has been so much happier and has been sucking down those bottles like you wouldn't believe. i am eager to see what her weight is up to next week! she is also getting better at sleeping through the night. the past three nights, she has not needed a bottle in the middle of the night, so unless she is gassy or fussy, she sleeps all the way through. we have had a few rough nights, where she had really bad gas and woke up multiple times. and a few other nights that she just wakes up at 0400 in the morning and decides it's time to get up, ha ha! but she is learning! and those few blessed nights of sleeping straight through are wonderful!

so there you have it. april 18th. a good day. one i've been counting down. next countdown - may 18th :)

L is so excited to be "vintage" today - wearing a onesie that mama wore as a baby!

i had my first prenatal visit today with my new dr (oh the excitement of changing insurance!) and am officially 12 weeks along. that means i will be due on october 26th, or somewhere around there. yes. you read that correct. and yes, L's birthday is indeed october 18th. so yes, they will be about a year apart. crazy, i know! it really was a shock to both maxwell and i. i went into the dr a few weeks ago for something totally unrelated, mentioned something and the dr ran a pregnancy test to just double-check! she even sent me home because she was certain it would be negative. ha ha! she called later that afternoon with the "interesting" news!! i was able to talk to max and share the news with him a few days later. he was also very surprised and his first response was "that's very...interesting". after a few minutes of thinking and processing, he said to me, "well, i know we weren't planning on this, but i am EXCITED! another baby!". too cute!

everything looks great and things are progressing as they should be. i even got to hear the little one's (i call him/her our little blueberry - because it was about the size of a blueberry when we found out!) heartbeat today at the dr. it is so awesome to hear that! and definitely made things VERY real! i have been experiencing all the usual first trimester feelings that i experienced last time around - nausea, fatigue, cramps, etc. and have been trying to rest more (good luck with that, huh?!). i have had the chance to share our news with most of our family and friends. the two most common reactions have been: 1. "kaylee, i think we need to have a talk about how these things work." to which i reply, "umm...it's a bit late for that!", and 2. "holy smokes! you two are just so fertile!" yeah, that's always a little weird to hear! oh well!

so, there you have it! another hanson is growing in my belly! L is going to be a big sister! oh how the adventure continues! and here we grow again...

a ghost! i see a ghost!

we had a fabulous easter. went to a service at papa d's church. then headed over to gma's house for easter dinner/family fun times. we, of course, stuffed ourselves with delicious food, had some good conversation and enjoyed the gorgeous weather. i have posted pictures of L and i from easter. i have many more from that day, but this is the first batch. i know that there are a lot of similar ones, but L's faces are just too funny to pass up! enjoy the many faces of L - there will be more to come!

i can't figure out what to title this post. i have this problem...when i can't figure out a title, i have a hard time starting to write, lol! it's silly, really. maybe then i feel there is no direction for my thoughts!? oh well. L and i have been busy this week, enjoying the gorgeous weather, learning about cloth diapers and seeing friends. it's been a good week!
