Max & Kaylee

this weekend went by much too fast, but i am entirely thankful that eliana got to meet her daddy. it was fabulous having maxwell home, even though it was only 24 hours! it was so cool to see the interaction between ms. L and maxwell. he was a bit enamored by her, as i expected! he would just sit, stare at her and exclaim that she was so little and has such tiny little fingers and toes. we got some paperwork done while he was home, for the birth certificate, made a trip to dunn bros (eliana's first trip to dunn bros...that's a big deal, lol) and had his family over for dinner. his dad, brother and grandma had not met her yet, so it was fun to show her off to them as well.

Our baby girl was born on October 18, 2009 at 5:11am. She weighed 8 lbs, 12 oz and was 20 inches long. It was quite the long, arduous labor...starting at 5am on Saturday October 17. We trekked to the hospital about 1pm on Saturday afternoon and it wasn't until Sunday morning, 5:11am that little Eliana decided to come out to meet the world. Max wasn't able to be home for her debut, so we had him on skype pretty much the entire time. Yay for technology, seriously! I am so thankful for that. I am lucky enough to have great friends and family who were physically present as well, to encourage me during labor and to encourage the little slowpoke to come out!

41 weeks, 1 day. no signs of baby emerging as of yet. dr appt yesterday. the little one is doing great...has a solid, steady, consistent heartbeat...passed a nonstress test with flying colors...is moving plenty...and i am feeling wonderful. so there is no need for induction as of yet. i have another dr appt in 5 days and at that point, if the baby hasn't come, we will talk about induction. crazy! i am still anxious for her to make her appearance, but am much calmer now that max has been home - the pressure to have her before he came was stressing me out! but i know there is nothing i can do to convince her out, she'll come when she's good and ready! and hopefully that good and ready is soon! AND, we found out that max might be able to get a few days off to come home again in the next few weeks to meet her! we didn't think that was an option until two days ago, and let me tell you, we are both excited! if he isn't able to come home within the next few weeks, we would have to wait until i could fly to visit him with the baby, and that wouldn't be for over a month...and we both want him to be able to meet his little one! so that was excellent news! we'll just keep trusting jesus that he knows what is best for us and that his plans are so much better and bigger than our own!

still no signs of baby emerging. five days past her due date. it's kinda hilarious now when people ask when i am due to have her. i tell them it was five days ago, their eyes get real big and they look at me like i might burst at any moment. i think it freaks people out, ha! max was able to come home this past weekend and it was amazing to have him home for those two days, although i think we were both a bit disappointed that the baby decided to not come out. just means it'll be a while until he gets to meet his little girl face-to-face. which is hard for both of us, but jesus knows what's best for us and we are trusting in his sovereign plans for us and for this little one.

little lentil is due tomorrow, october 7th, the day we have been quoting for months now. and there doesn't seem to be any sign of her grand entrance (although that really means nothing, as far as babies go...). max comes home in three days. so there is a bit of anxiety bouncing around. will she be here by then? will she come while he's here? or will she be a stubborn little one and wait until after he's been here? who knows?! it's been a huge lesson in trusting jesus. only HE knows when her time will be. and he has great plans for her and for us, so really, all we need to do is trust him. he will take care of us through this. he knows what is best for each one of us involved. but it can be hard to not wonder, not think that every little cramp could be the onset of labor! ha! i am running out of things to do around the house. i have cleaned the basement, my room, all of her little things. i have baked many goodies, made foods that are frozen away for fast meals. i am running out of ideas here. but at the same time, it's been a really enjoyable week and a half...it's my vacation time. and once the little one arrives, i won't get time like this for a very, very long time. so i am enjoying it, soaking it in, relaxing, reading books, watching movies, taking walks. it's been good for me. and i know i will appreciate this time once she arrives! so i will keep "vacationing" and keep anxiously awaiting her arrival!!
